Your quarterly wine club is here!

2022 Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon:  I’ve often said Cabernet Sauvignon is the “King of Wines.”  This aristocratic international traveler produces breath taking wine from the top estates, from Bordeaux to California and even in New Zealand and Argentina, not to mention Fair Play.  Cabernet Sauvignon is without a doubt the most fashionable wine in the world. The French equates low yield to high quality.  But this Cabernet is grown on 50 year old vines owned by me with scanty yields of 2 tons per acre. The small berry has a very high skin to berry ratio, therefore, the extraction potential is very high with possibly the best aging potential. Two years in French oak resulted in a complete, well-balanced wine. The tannin is already integrated, the finish goes on forever; this top-quality wine will age for many years, but if you don’t mind a little punishment drink it now.  Perfect with rare red meat protein, I’m enjoying a glass “neat” in the middle of the afternoon.

Bella Rossa: Inspired by my wine trips to Tuscany (I even co-hosted one) I billed this as an “American Super Tuscan.” There is a wine lake of thin inky mouthwash Chianti.  We at Charles B. Mitchell Vineyards, picked up the pace with a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot to produce this easy drinking afternoon wine.  I often offer it to guests on my yacht. Since Sangiovese is the most notable or ‘dominant’ constituent of this magnificent blend, let’s pour a libation to its root origin:  Etruscans who first settled what would become Italy, but first, the Roman Empire, brought this treasure. Sangiovese, also known as Brunello, Morellino, Nielluccio. Sangiovese: derived from Latin ‘Sanguis Jovis’ or ‘Blood of Jove’ takes its semi-divine status from the Roman pantheon of legend, Jupiter ‘King of the Gods’.

2023 Amador Chardonnay: Chardonnay, originates from the Burgandy Region of France. A household name varietal, the green-skinned grape, known mostly for its classic apple or citrus front and buttery-rich dry finish. The Amador Chardonnay has already turned heads since we put it in the bottle.  A few notable caveats with this vintage for the mentioning:  It was aged in stainless steel. There was no need to put this Chardonnay on French oak. We knew it was a winning wine. It’s easily the ‘smoothest’ Chardonnay we’ve ever poured, and we know you’ll love this. Fall is the perfect time for a Chardonnay, pair it with any banquet or charcuterie.

Thank you for your continued loyalty in our wine club, our success is dependent on you!
